Peter Albert David Singer AC FAHA (born 6 July 1946) is an Australian moral philosopher who is Emeritus Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University. Singer's work specialises in applied ethics, approaching the subject from a secular, utilitarian perspective.

After teaching in England, the United States and Australia, he has, since 1999, been Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics in the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University. He first became well-known internationally after the publication of Animal Liberation in 1975.
I am a professor of bioethics, with a background in philosophy. I work mostly in practical ethics and am best known for Animal Liberation and for my writings about global poverty.
In 2021, I was delighted to receive the Berggruen Prize for Philosophy and Culture. The citation referred to my “widely influential and intellectually rigorous work in reinvigorating utilitarianism as part of academic philosophy and as a force for change in the world."
Hailed as "the world's most influential living philosopher," Peter has spread his message via global outreach, professorship, and the 50+ books he has worked on.
