Walk Rotherhithe Street
The best way to explore Rotherhithe is to walk the length of Rotherhithe Street. Spanning 1.5 miles, it’s the longest street in London, but don’t worry there will be opportunities for fuel your stomach along the way. Brunel Museum
Situated at the Engine House, The Brunel Museumis a small museum commemorating Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s first and large projects. The educational charity run by volunteers showcases a local story of an engineering family (Brunels) who change the world. At the museum you can see collections that give an in depth insight into The Thames Tunnel, pottery plates and watercolours of the Brunel family. - Brunel Museum. Isambard Kingdom Brunel is considered by many to have been the greatest engineer who ever lived. He built everything – railways, tunnels, bridges, flat-pack hospitals and ships including the SS Great Britain (the first ship in the world powered by a propeller and now proudly exhibited in Bristol).

Rotherhithe is a small village in the heart of London. It is spectacularly located along the River Thames, just 15-20 minutes from bustling London Bridge. The area is a bit of a hidden secret and one the locals haven’t been keen on promoting. And why should we?
Jul 2, 2024 · A collection of Rotherhithe’s best hidden gems in a complete itinerary of London’s maritime and industrial past, cobblestone streets, and quirky sights! London houses many secret neighborhoods, and one of my favorite is Rotherhithe, whose name is Saxon for ‘sailors’ haven’.
Rotherhithe boasts a rich waterside history, now complemented by a variety of new attractions. These include the Brunel Museum, (revealing the eighth wonder of the world) and home to the apothecary’s garden the Printworks (one of the best night clubs in the world), Surrey Docks farm, Stave Hill with its unique panoramic urban views and many others.
Rotherhithe sits along the Thames with riverside views that makes it both charming and peaceful. Well, that and its nature reserves, community feel and abundance of old pubs. Rotherhithe is a quirky place in the South East, that’s an ever evolving dockland area.
