Alamance County (/ ˈæləmæns / ⓘ) [ 1 ] is a county in North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 171,415. [ 2 ] Its county seat is Graham. [ 3 ] Formed in 1849 from Orange County to the east, Alamance County has been the site of significant historical events, textile manufacturing, and agriculture.
Alamance County, located in the Piedmont region of north central North Carolina, was formed in 1849 out of Orange County. The county was named for either the Great Alamance Creek or the Battle of Alamance (16 May 1771), the decisive battle in the War of the Regulation.
