The county was created in 1837 and organized the following year. [3] [4] It is named for Sterling C. Robertson, [5] an early settler who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence. Robertson County is in east-central Texas and is part of the College Station-Bryan, TX metropolitan statistical area.

Numerous artifacts from the Paleo-Indian (10,000–6,000 B.C.) and Archaic (6,000–200 B.C.) cultures have been found in the area, suggesting that it has been continuously occupied for more than 10,000 years.
Franklin is a city in, and the county seat of, Robertson County, [5] Texas, United States. It is within the Brazos Valley, on the cusp of the East and Central Texas regions. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 1,614. The original name of the town was Morgan and it was made county seat in 1879.
