An animated Christmas movie with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, angels, shepherds, magi, and King Herod, instead of elves, Santa, etc. Imagine that! A colorful, fun, humorous movie that depicts the account of the events surrounding the birth of Jesus, depicted from the animals’ perspective.
That being said, it is so great to hear “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Silent Night” being sung in this movie. We don’t hear these types of Christmas songs much in Christmas movies these days. In the meantime, the film’s main messages of kindness, love, selflessness and forgiveness are definitely worth cheering for.
Nov 14, 2014 · As Christians who celebrate Christmas and teach our children how Christmas symbols can point to Jesus, we want to applaud, praise, and support a Christian movie about Christmas, but deep down we felt that, in reality, the movie was poorly done—we just hate to admit it. Nov 23, 2011 · I love movies that have a redemption thread woven into the plot, and there is very definitely such a thread in “Arthur Christmas” as Arthur and his family work to overcome family disappointments and divisions. Creative, funny, heartwarming, great voice cast, visually dazzling, and (very importantly) clean—“Arthur Christmas” is a winner.
Inadvertently each priest helps the other to find the answer they both desperately crave. When Father Keene suggests a Christmas play at the church and Father Joyce invites Father Keene to the town’s biggest annual Christmas gathering at the home of Widow Marjorie Worthington (Kerry Wall) their respective personal torments begin to unravel.
Plus, carols, games, coloring pages, reviews of Christmas movies, and more. The tale of “A Christmas Carol” has been viewed as an indictment of the industrial revolution and capitalism in the early nineteenth century and has been credited with returning the holiday to one of merriment and festivity in Britain and America after a period of sobriety, somberness and repression.
It also shows that although there may be reasons for a bad attitude, there are no excuses. Even though the “spirit of Christmas present” refers to Jesus only in an indirect way and not by name, the realistic portrayal of the eventual repentance and conversion of Scrooge is a strong witness of the transforming power of the Gospel.
G eorge C. Scott’s “A Christmas Carol” is an acceptable, if not compelling, rendition of Dickens’s classic tale. With the backing of Twentieth Century Fox, the film’s look (sets, costumes, makeup, props) were right on the money.
