Pisz (pronounced Peesh, previously also Jańsbork, German: Johannisburg) is a historic town in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in northern Poland, with a population of 19,466 (2016). It is the seat of Pisz County. Pisz is situated at the junction of Lake Roś and the Pisa River, in the region of Masuria.
Pisz leży na Mazurach, na obszarze historycznej Galindii. Ze względu na dawny zasięg osadnictwa Jaćwingów [8] zaliczany jest również do Sudowii [9] [10] [11] . Gmina Pisz jest jedną z największych obszarowo gmin w Polsce – 634 km², obejmując około 2/3 jeziora Śniardwy .

Gmina Pisz jest pod względem powierzchni największą gminą w Polsce. Według danych z 31 grudnia 2013 gminę zamieszkiwały 27 953 osoby.
