Fort Canning Lighthouse, also known as Fort Canning Light, is a lighthouse located on top of Fort Canning Hill, Singapore, and was formerly one of the 13 important lighthouses in the Straits of Malacca.

The 24.3-metre high Fort Canning Lighthouse shone 20,000 candelas worth of light which was generated by a vaporised kerosene burner. The lighthouse’s beam occulted for three seconds every 17 seconds through the lowering of a metal cylinder around the burner.

The lighthouse was the occulting type, which meant that every 17 seconds, a metal cylinder would be lowered around the burner for 3 seconds to darken it.
