While public transportation is the easiest way to visit, you may also walk, bike, drive, or take a shared-ride service up to the Observatory. There’s paid parking near the Observatory and free parking downhill.

The current program serves 27,000 fifth-grade students a year and weaves together the Observatory's telescope, exhibit, and building content, as well as programs in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium and Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon theater, to bring classroom learning to life.
Griffith Observatory is a great place to get the classic panoramic view of Los Angeles including best views of the Hollywood sign. The Observatory itself is architecturally striking Art Deco style and has scientifically interesting displays, though the interior itself is not large and can be toured in a short amount of time.

The Observatory is located above Los Feliz on the southern slope of Mt. Hollywood, and offers some of the best views of L.A., from the Pacific Ocean to Downtown.
Griffith Observatory. Usually morning when it opens. Tour buses come throughout the day, and then lots of people come couple hours before sunset to see sunset, thats why parking is difficult at that time cuz people stay 2-3 hours.. Other times, people look inside, walk around and in and out in 1 hour or so.
