The Nymphenburg Palace (German: Schloss Nymphenburg, Palace of the Nymphs) is a Baroque palace situated in Munich's western district Neuhausen-Nymphenburg, in Bavaria, southern Germany. The Nymphenburg served as the main summer residence for the former rulers of Bavaria of the House of Wittelsbach.
Nymphenburg Palace owes its foundation as a summer residence to the birth of the long-awaited heir to the throne, Max Emanuel, who was born in 1662 to the Bavarian Elector Ferdinand Maria and his wife, Henriette Adelaide of Savoy, after some ten years of marriage.
Nymphenburg is not just home to the Bavarian royal family's lavish palace; the grounds also include a large park containing unique water features, an extensive selection of sculptures and unusual pavilions.
Beautiful historic palace situated in western Munich – the grounds are massive, while the palance itself is extraordinary. In short, definitely worth the price and visit. Can easily spend 1-2 hours in the palace itself while another 1-2 hours walking around the grounds, through the various ponds, streams, and structures around.
