Motive: Maggie realized Justin was stealing money from the trust fund her late husband had set up for her.
There was no story to explain as to who Maggie had called that would have anyone to have heard her verbal fight with whoever was on the other hand of the call. Then only Maggie & Jessica knew what Maggie had bought for her granddaughter, so with Maggie already had bought it, how exactly wasn't there money to pay for it if she had already had bought it before she learned that money was stolen by Justin.
