But looking at the sheer volume of ads for the Caslon 201 (and other models that followed) it is clear that the 1970s was the decade of the flip clock (and flip clock radios), and that the Caslon 201 seems to have led the pack. Jun 30, 2019 · June 30, 2019, 06:43 PM. So, here's a conundrum. When I advance the hour and minutes tiles manually on a Copal II mechanism, the hour flips in sync with the minutes. However, the motor turns the hour wheel out of sync, so that the hour changes a few seconds after the 00 flips down. I'm not sure if this a problem in the gearbox or somewhere else.

I'm relatively new to the intricacies of the flipclock world but have happily had one for the past few years (a wood patterned Copal 227, I believe). I've been having a problem where the clock makes a very loud "click" sound when the day changes over (ex. from Saturday to Sunday).

Here’s my freshly restored Copal / Caslon 602, paid £45 for it, arrived in a bit of a state, very yellow but running ok, i bleached out the case, serviced and gave it a good polish, very pleased with the results, it came with the original box and card for the setting knobs too.
