However, some manufacturers (MK for example) exceed the requirements. I know 14amps seems odd, but this is the test carried out on socket outlets to ensure they conform.

Nov 23, 2020 · Again we all know a 2 amp socket not designed to take a fused plug, should be protected from over current with a 2 amp protective device, but I know I have used 20 amp MCB's to feed two 16 amp sockets, and I am sure many have done this with 110 volt supplies, so yes we do break the rules or should we say bend them, however 3 times the rating using a 6 amp MCB for 2 amp socket is going a little ...

Feb 9, 2022 · It is wired to a fused spur directly below, and seems to be isolated/turned off via a MTN106 MCB in the fuse box/consumer under the stairs marked "central heating". - Remove the boiler wire out of one side of the fused spur and put it on a 3 pin plug, with a 3A fuse. - Swap the fused spur face plate to a standard 3 pin socket.

To feed this I will spur off an existing double socket in the garage pretty much the other side of the wall from where the unit will be mounted. This existing double socket already has a single.spur off it.

A good idea which I saw earlier was, as car air freshners rarely last a long time then buy a plug in for the 3 pin socket and voila ! a nice smelling interior that lasts longer than pieces of cardboard hung on a rear view mirror. That's what I'll be doing when I get mine.
