Ah, well that lends even more credibility to "you got it wrong". State- or nation-wide outage of on-line banking at Bankwest would have been in the news. Not possible to have a state-wide outage, as all banking is done from the core systems in Perth. Yes a total outage would be somewhat widely reported.
Personally I use a Bankwest transaction account + uBank ultra account for a more flexible savings account without penalties (I just throw the ultra card into a drawer and never use it), but if Bankwest made their Hero Saver account more flexible (eg – 1 withdrawal from savings per month without penalty), I'd swap from uBank in a heartbeat since I hate their buggy online banking.

Last time I checked, there was something you could click on online banking in ANZ that would then make the pending transactions appear – but every time you would have to press that little i button to get it to show up. That said, it was for a debit card, and about a year ago.

My specific product has always been no international fee, then they don't charge ATM fee generally. On top of this she claimed if I load my credit card in the positive and withdraw against it, no cash advance fee.

The website may be up but the actual online banking system is dead. All account balances have been restored to what they were at midnight last night. So if you had $500 in your account last night, but drew it out this morning, then you could quite happily go to an ATM right now and draw another $500.
