- Nara Park. This large park is located in central Nara, close to JR Nara station. It was established in 1880 and is renowned for its free-roaming deer and world-famous temples including Todaiji Temple.
- Kasuga Taisha. Kasuga Taisha is Nara’s most celebrated shrine. It was established at the same time as the capital set and is dedicated to the deity who protects the city.
