In older versions of paint this was possible by simply opening the image file in paint and then saving it again under a different file name. In the new version, this does not happen and instead this technique increases the size of the JPEG file.

You could also try using a lossless compression method (doesn't reduce quality) such as zip to make your file size smaller, however there will be a limit on how small you will be able to get your file. Dec 4, 2017 · Windows 10 Photos application compress images. I've done minimal crops with the application and I notice that on some of the JPG files the app compress the file size by 70%. Before: file size was 4.5MB with 3024X2005 pixels. After: file size is 1.5MB with 3011X2004 pixels . Do you familiar with this?
