google translate works and so does bing translate. Bing is better because it's AI. Bing is better because it's has cantonese too. Feb 15, 2023 · What I find really interesting is that these LLMs weren't explicitly trained on Chinese/English translation pairs - just an unstructured pile of Chinese and English texts. Somehow they learned the actual meaning behind the words and how to map from one language to the other. That is to be expected TBH.
Feb 27, 2023 · I think Deepl is better at translating. I was doing translation as a job for a couple years, and of the big four (google, deepl, Baidu, youdao) I think google is overall the best. DeepL maybe for some legal things. Baidu and youdao are just not close. I also tried Bing and it was even worse than the Chinese ones.

If you look at the chinese version of the wikipedia page in the novel, it has an entire section dedicated to discussing the different chinese translations.
That's the one virtually all people in Taiwan use (they refuse to use Google Translate due to a single viral article from like 5 years ago that mistranslated something from Chinese to English). The translator that they all use absolutely sucks at translating Chinese to English.
Jan 10, 2014 · Google is best if you understand Chinese grammar and write a literal translation. It will usually pick-up the meaning fairly well. Sometimes when Google gives a bad translation, Bing will get it, but not often enough for me to use it.
