  4. Feb 27, 2023 · I think Deepl is better at translating. I was doing translation as a job for a couple years, and of the big four (google, deepl, Baidu, youdao) I think google is overall the best. DeepL maybe for some legal things. Baidu and youdao are just not close. I also tried Bing and it was even worse than the Chinese ones.

  7. Jan 10, 2014 · Google is best if you understand Chinese grammar and write a literal translation. It will usually pick-up the meaning fairly well. Sometimes when Google gives a bad translation, Bing will get it, but not often enough for me to use it. Bing has no translation Android app, so GT is always there for me , and it works good enough.

  8. Jul 7, 2018 · It's useful for me because I'm more interested in learning how to type chinese, which requires pinyin. I type chinese much more frequently than I write chinese by hand. Knowing how to write the character is not really a concern for me but knowing the pinyin means I know how to type it next time I need to use the character and I know how to pronounce the word next time I need to say the word.

  9. Apple Translator and Pleco have gotten me far into China. Google Translate needs a VPN for full usability and it’s offline mode is trash, it takes a while as it continues to try to connect to Googles servers and eventually it gives up and spits something up. Microsoft Translator is garbage and its gui is garbage, avoid it.
