Oct 4, 2014 · Aug 1, 2018. ktulu007. Not Recommended. Garo: Honoo no Kokuin is an anime from the mid 2000s. It was created by Amemiya Keita (who's done a lot of work on Kamen Rider). Although the anime was written by Kobayashi Yasuko (who also worked on the anime for Claymore & Shakugan no Shana) and was brought to us by MAPPA.
Garo: Guren no Tsuki is the sequel to Garo: Honoo no Kokuin except it's not really a direct sequel. It's actually an anthology series, where the characters, plot, setting and everything else are different except for the common mythology revolving around the Makai Knights and Makai Alchemists and most of the seiyuu return for new roles.
Garo is a franchise I've talked about once with Honoo no Kokuin. It was a sub-par, tryhard dark series where every "twist" was painfully obvious. Maybe this one is less profoundly stupid and manages to be a sentai show for adults that actually respects its audience's intelligence.

Garo is a tokusatsu franchise that has a unique place in the genre as the odd one out. While most toku are kid-focused and merchandise-driven, Garo is aimed towards adults and as such tends to have much “edgier” content, namely its horror themes, nudity, and violence. The original Garo was a live-action toku that premiered in 2005.
Oct 17, 2014 · The specials aired on the Family Gekijo cable channel directly after episodes of Garo: Honoo no Kokuin, starting on October 17, 2014. The episodes were later included on the first volume of the series' home release, released February 28, 2015. No staff for this anime have been added to this title.
