HAGAR was founded in 1994 in response to the prevalence of extreme domestic and community violence affecting women and children in post-civil war Cambodia. In 2008, HAGAR began operations in Afghanistan to support vulnerable women and children.

HAGAR’s expertise in trauma-informed care has been developed over 25 years of working with women and children who have experienced profound trauma as a result of slavery, human trafficking and abuse.
HAGAR was originally established in Singapore as a support office. However, after identifying an urgent need for comprehensive recovery services, we expanded to provide support to survivors who had been trafficked into Singapore.
