  2. I've been trying to install and run shaders (on macOS), however every time I boot up Minecraft there's no option in the video settings for it - the button just isn't there. I have double checked every time that I'm running OptiFine (1.20.4), and have checked the OptiFine files, and there is definitely a shader folder, with shaders in it.

  3. Here is an illustrative image to help understand the role of these two shaders in Minecraft. Source: Vanilla Shader Guidance. Configuring Shader Files. First,we need to open a higher version of Minecraft, such as '1.21-pre2.jar'.Inside the '1.21-pre2.jar\assets\minecraft\shaders' directory, you will find all the shader-related content.

  4. Sep 3, 2021 · I have a 2080 super, an i9-9900k processor, and 32 gigs of ram, yet I can't seem to get above 40 fps when running any shader. I have tried reinstalling Java, allocating all different amounts of memory to Minecraft, (xmx4, 8, 12, 16, and even 24). I am completely stumped.

  8. The only way to fix this is through anti-aliasing, IIRC the game does have an anti-aliasing option (if it doesn't, Optifine has one), but from what I've heard the built in anti-aliasing option just isn't good, so your other options are to download the shaders mod and maybe find someone who can write a cheap FXAA shader (should result in at most a couple FPS being dropped, FXAA is a cheap anti ...

  9. RAM isn't that important for shaders, but yes 8GB is about what you should aim for, 12-16GB if you can afford it. And GPU, depends on what generation. Recent generations outperform older generations, a GT 720 will outperform a GT 620 a little due to the advancements in technology, but not by much.

Shaders can either construct an image (Dinnerbone was talking about using shaders to render the world, he meant these shaders) like apply a simple lighting algorithm to illuminate an image in realtime, or they can alter an already generated image (these are the types of shaders the shaders mod allows to run), shader packs use shader programs to alter an image that the game has already built.
