Mar 24, 2014 · A Df feels perfectly comfortable with a 50mm f/1.8, or one of the smallish primes. I have no objection to using a camera in this way, except that an X100s gets you a very similar experience in a smaller body with an integrated ND filter and leaf shutter, for a lot less money.<br />. <br />.
Jan 18, 2014 · In conjunction with Nikon's best AF system, a lot of fast electronics inside the D4 and its extremely solid construction, the D4 is a great sports, news, action camera.</p> <p>The Df only shares the sensor with the D4, but it has none of the supporting system. The Df only has Nikon's second best AF system, 5.5 fps, and much slower controls.
Oct 25, 2017 · 35k. Posted October 25, 2017. The Df has an aperture follower tab that can be flipped up. Therefore, it is compatible with non-AI/pre-AI lenses. Otherwise, the general rule of thumb is that you can mount a pre-AI lens on those Nikon DX DSLRs that have no AF motor inside. I.e. the D40 series, D60, D3000 series and the D5000 series.
Apr 19, 2020 · Author. Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) To add a bit to my previous post-with the mirror up I can gently push it DOWN and it will pop up to the position shown. With the mirror resting, I can gently push it up but it stops where shown here. Also, AF seems off.
Dec 29, 2013 · Overall, the Df is a well made camera. I think Nikon is trying to compromise among the retro design, features/capabilities, having as small FX DSLR as possible, and price. Naturally they are not going to please everybody. I wish Nikon had made the features on the Df the equivalent of a D800 instead of a D600/D610; if that meant the Df would be ...

Nikon didn't build a grip into the Df not to save money but they knew most people who buy the Df won't want one. The controls on the Df was designed to function better without a grip vertical or even horizontal.
