Welcome to the website of St Joseph’s Church (Victoria Street, Singapore). Christ sent His disciples to the ends of the earth to spread the Good News and make disciples of the nations. St Francis Xavier was sent by St Ignatius and the King of Portugal to the Far East to continue that task.
Fr. Francisco da Silva Pinto e Maia of the Congregation of Mission, arrived in Singapore from Macao to look after the 12 or 13 Catholics in Singapore. He founded the Portuguese Mission in Singapore, and started the plans for the first Church, which was eventually completed in 1853.
St Joseph is known as Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Luke 2:5) the foster father of Jesus, Prince and Patron of the Universal Church, Guardian of the Holy Family. Everything we know about Joseph comes from Scripture.

Procedures for Wedding. Before making a wedding booking with St Joseph’s Church, Victoria Street, please ensure that you have met the following requirement. St Joseph’s Church, Victoria Street is able to accommodate up to two Weddings on Saturdays at 10am and 2.00pm.
The Sacred Heart Choir is the first choir formed in St Joseph’s Church (Victoria Street) on 5th March 1882. Started out as an all-men’s choir, The Sacred Heart Choir is presently a mixed choir that sings weekly in the Sunday 10am Principal Solemn Mass of the church.
