Volkswagen Beetle Transmission Problems. 68mgb Member Posts: 2. March 2007 edited May 2015. I have a 99 Beetle w/60M miles. Recently it sat for a month with a dead battery. When I charged the battery and began driving it i had transmission problems. At forst it would be shifting through 2nd and 3rd and would slip sending the rpm's up to 5-6M.
I purchased a used, 2005, Volkswagen Beetle Turbo GLS for my wife in July of 2008. At the time of purchase, the vehicle had approximately 24K miles, and to date has 32K miles. The four-year bumper to bumper warranty expired in February of 2009; however, the vehicle is still well below the 50K mile warranty threshold.
July 2012. For a year or two, the check engine light has come on and the VW shop's computer indicated a faulty or blocked mass-flow sensor which I have solved with MFS spray. Ironically, it had a beetle on the sensor screen. This fixed the problem for a while until my car was hit in the right rear fender.

Take this time to put a crimp on the ends of the cable and fish a string or fish tape thru the slot in the replacement top. Tape the end of the new cable to the fish tape and pull it thru. Let the cable sit there quietly for now. Place the new top back on the frame, this time seat the frame in the pocket of the top.

Apr 17, 2012 · Information about my car: 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, probably the 2000.5 version, its the newer style body. The driver side door was knocked into by a ConEd van a while back, but before I owned the car. The doors close normally, and everything works save for a whistle when driving on the highway with the window down.
