  1. Jan 2, 2019 · Jan 2, 2019. #1. Hi. So i recently noticed that my radiators were coming on whenever i put just the hot water on. I heard it was likely my 3 way valve so i checked it and realised it was stuck in the Heating position. I ordered a new valve and actuator and it arrived today and have replaced it. I put on the hot water to check if it had sorted ...

  2. Nov 12, 2022 · My 3 way actuator valve has gone on my central heating. I think it's a combination of the valve motor burning out due to a stiff valve on the pipework. -Tie the ball valve up for the central heating feed tank in the loft. -Move the 3 way valve to the mid position so that water from the hot water cylinder heating coil also drains.

  3. Dec 14, 2017 · New Member. Dec 14, 2017. #1. 3-Way Valve - Constant Hum. Morning all. For the last few weeks, I've noticed a constant humming/buzzing noise coming from my 3-way valve, but only after the CH has been running. The hum is not loud, but is clearly audible all over the house, and is definitely coming from the 3-way valve, not the pump or the boiler.

  5. Oct 27, 2015 · The 3 way valve switch is a 3 port valve motorised valve . The valve/actuators, in this instance, are termed "mid port" They normally act as a diverter in that water comes in from the middle (bottom) port and then is diverted to flow either right or left (A or B port). This system is termed a "Y" plan system. Being a mid port valve, when in the ...

  6. Mar 31, 2012 · I removed the power head from the 3 port zone valve V4073A 003 and manually turned the spindle controlling the valve hoping to control the flow, but it made no diffrence. The spindle moves easily without use of any tools e.g pliers, but the movment is very slight. Is this the right way to diagnose this problem, any suggestion is wellcomed.

  7. Feb 1, 2020 · The 3-way valve is pretty new, runs free and not stuck in any way, and the actuator otherwise appears fine (also fairly new). There were both checked over recently and have no issue. I have done some tests and just turning on the hot water, the actuator moves to fully to the W position, and similarly it moves to fully to the H position should I just turn on the heating without water.

  8. Oct 27, 2020 · Screwfix Select. My OH has the Drayton 3 port valve (well in her house you understand) and the mechanical part which moves the innards has become stiff over time. As Teach says, just replace the whole unit like for like as other valves like the Honeywell may be "better" but won't fit the existing pipework without modification.

  9. Apr 29, 2020 · Remove motorised head from the valve. bung the outlet and expansion pipe on the header tank to create a vacuum on the central heating circuit. shut off all the tap/valves leading in/out of the immersion tank. Undo the valve and remove. add new valve and tighten nuts. re-fit the motorised head. remove bungs. re-open in/out valves on immersion tank.
