The film follows the story of four teen girls diving in a ruined underwater city, who quickly find themselves in a watery hell as their fun outing turns into heart-stopping fear when they learn they are not alone in the submerged caves.

The film focuses on a group of teenage girls that get trapped in an underwater Mayan ruin with a shark. The sense of peril is constant throughout, and most of the movie has a very claustrophobic feel. The girls often scream and cry in fear. The water is very murky and dark, which leads to many jump scares.

Permalink. The basic plot is a group of teenage girls go diving in a submerged Aztec city only to find it is infested with giant blind cave sharks (note the white eye on the shark on the poster). The sharks must also be deaf because they fail to home in on the noisy teens on multiple occasions.
The high school is named "Modine High School" after Matthew Modine who appeared in the previous film, 47 Meters Down (2017). Corinne Foxx and Brianne Tju lied at their auditions, claiming to the producers that they had stellar swimming skills when in reality, they had limited experience.
