Sep 1, 2022 · Izod impact test was performed as per the standard ASTM D256 with the help of impact tester IT504 Plastic Impact (Tinius Olsen, USA). A hammer of 41.25 N force and a radius of 335.025 mm was used in the impact testing. Machine and specimen setup was made as per ASTM (Type A) test procedure.

Impact strength of pure HDPE slightly decreased after the addition of 10% wood fiber, decrease already observed for wood fiber composites by some authors [55]. The impact strength of the composites was found to increase with fiber content but never exceeded 88.1% of the value for pure HDPE.
