Jan 3, 2019 · The juxtaposition of Karen Carpenter as the happy, wholesome pop star she wanted to be, and the Karen Carpenter whose voice captured people's attention with it's mournful, elegiac quality and who died young from a tragic mental illness is just fascinating. And for someone who just wanted to hide behind those drums, she was a hell of a drummer.
Hal Blaine absolutely did. He said Karen Carpenter was a really good drummer, but didn't have the chops for the studio. That's not an insult. Studio drummers invent and compose those drum parts, the rest of us copy them. Big difference.

Apr 28, 2021 · Karen Carpenter was a badass bitch. Slightly tragic, but paved the way regardless. I can only imagine the kind of pressure a woman in her shoes had to deal with. He death explains a lot of the side effects of being a famous woman. Meh.
Oct 4, 2022 · As far as Karen's anorexia, it was on multiple levels and most of the stuff that has been pushed out there is a bit off and more about the 'anorexia profile' than about Karen Carpenter. My legal first name is Adrian, and I met Karen on September 6, 1978 and Karen and me had spent a lot of time together back in the day.
I don’t think Karen Carpenter sat still or lounged on a pink couch for 95% of her days for the last decade of her life. She had to be active, recording, touring, performing, promoting, traveling etc.
