Thor: Love and Thunder featured a plethora of gods from the MCU, but some received far more screen time than others. IGN’s exclusive deleted scene from the Taika Waititi-directed romp gives fans their first extended look at the Greek god of fertility Dionysus, played by veteran stage and screen actor Simon Russell Beale (Penny Dreadful, The Legend of Tarzan).
While Dionysus still appears as a background character during Love and Thunder’s Omnipotence City sequence, this deleted scene – which can be watched via the player above or the embed – reveals Beale’s god originally had a somewhat larger role.
In the scene, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Korg (Waititi) arrive in Omnipotence City looking for Zeus (played by Russell Crowe). They happen across the pompous and pampered Dionysus, who proceeds to name-drop his daddy Zeus and give away his whereabouts.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be available on Digital September 8 and 4K, Blu-ray and DVD September 27.
