His friend told him humans have changed earth so much they've entered a new epoch. So John surmises that might be what's causing him to age because his epoch is over. Reply reply.

Jan 17, 2018 · Scenes ended 10 seconds before the cut; camera shots were unimaginative and missed any of the emotions the actors were going for. The music sucked: it sounded like someone pirated the bastard child of Enigma's Sadeness and The Bold and the Beautiful . The original film had a magic about it.
