  1. May 1, 2018 · This film explores that notion of yeah this is incredibly disturbing but SOMEONE was interested in it and therefore has marketability. I compare the film with 8mm a lot because it feels like an exploration of what is the "niche" content that people are invested it, and a Serbian film expertly digressed what niche interest can look like.

  2. Aug 12, 2012 · So 'a serbian film' is a movie explaining that, a normal guy, who is paid to rape and then eventually has his free will stripped and destroys everything through rape. It's a weird movie, because it's a culture struggling through the thing they did, but also a lot of good old gross out pictures and it's weirder because it's like it's trying to ...

  3. Salo is the shock art that people pretend a serbian film is. I feel like the only person who will defend a Serbian film by admitting that it is purely shock for shock’s sake. Salo feels like it explores relationships of power more than it feels like a shock movie. The things that happen in the movie are shocking.

  5. CaptainTryk. •. Irreversible will make a Serbian Film look cute. A Serbian Film is all about shock horror and driving the literal metaphor as far out as possible without really having all that much depth to it in the end. Irreversible will teach you some shit about destruction of the human soul and ego driven revenge.

  6. May 17, 2021 · The director Srdjan Spasojevic has gone on the claim that the film is a commentary on his views of the world regarding politicians in Serbia, the world's sensitivity and political correctness (there's a pretty interesting interview with IndieWire, whether you agree with him or not on the film, which you can read here: https://www.indiewire.com ...

  7. Aug 15, 2016 · Perhaps the most disturbing part of A Serbian Film is the use of children as both instruments of sexual activities and as pawns in Milos self-conscious. The film’s second narrative of corruption and lost youth is shown through the three children present in the film: Petar, Jeca, and the newborn. The first child we are introduced to is Petar ...

  8. Aug 21, 2014 · The entire film is in Serbian (I think, not sure what language to be honest) and is completely uncensored. There's many sex scenes that would classify as rape and many scenes where the protagonist (I think his names Nico) brutally beats the woman he's having sex with. In one scene in particular a woman is strapped face down to a bed while a ...

  9. Apr 12, 2014 · Murder Set Pieces -- doesn't hold back on the nudity, violence, or sexual violence, but it's not as well made as A Serbian Film. Someone's Knocking at the Door -- mindscrewy. Bad Biology -- revolves entirely around sexuality-related body horror, but fair warning, I found its overall quality extremely lacking.
