  4. There are multiple parts of the movie that think it's an action movie though. The monkey scene is very action adventurey. Same with the moon pirates. Or the opening scene. Compare Ad Astra to Apocalypse Now. Apocalypse Now is a slow character movie and a war movie but all the war scenes fit into the bigger theme of the movie.

  5. Dec 7, 2023 · As said in the title, I wanna make some nice automation for the sliding doors of Ad Astra, but they seem to only get redstone activation from a single block in front of it. They dont seem to act like other doors, ive tried a number of sensors and there doesnt seem to be a way for it to be seamless.

The reviewer is thinking of the related extended phrase 'per aspera ad astra', which means "through hardships to the stars".

  8. I liked it. Def some inconsistencies / weird small decisions (like every 20 min there's a new character, then something comes up and they go away) but strong, philosophical notes across music, visuals, narration, etc. Reminds me much of Solaris.

Jan 3, 2021 · I think that’s basically almost it, generally for the second ending, the main differences are 1) he speaks with Meera instead of being given the vision of a future with Amicus, 2) He’s more skeptical and self aware in his flight home dialogue with Amicus, and 3) he has maybe 10ish lines sprinkled around the ending where he’a skeptic about the parents and more aware of their plans for him
