Apr 12, 2022 · I was watching it with my wife and I mentioned to her that Ali Wong is going to divorce her husband shortly after this. Earlier today, my wife msgs me with this news. Her comedy is incredibly personal, which is great and makes it funny/authentic. BUt man it's just so telling.

Jul 26, 2023 · Ali has gotten a lot of flak in mainstream media as a sex-positive Asian woman, and her divorce was even celebrated by some conservative critics as a sort of comeuppance for her. She was able to turn the narrative around, not as a sort of mindless sexual self-empowerment story, but through delicately approaching some very difficult experiences and personal stories with humor.
