The obvious stories with Cade (even going back to his rookie season) are inefficiency and turnovers, and while this is obviously concerning, Cunningham has barely played a full seasons worth of games so far and gets superstar attention on defense due the FO's inability to surround him with NBA-ready talent.
Nobody will ever agree on just exactly what a bust is, I don’t think Cade is a bust already but if he finds himself out of the league in the next 10 years then yeah he’s a bust. Just consider that Cade takes more shots per game than Markelle Fultz and is less efficient than Fultz is. Cunningham: 17.2 FGA/G, 18.7 PPG, 88 TS+

Jul 30, 2021 · When Cade was talking about learning the culture of the city he genuinely meant it. That means a lot to the people of Detroit, at least me and a few people I know, that he embraced some of our identify.

While people are understandably quick to pile on and make fun of the Pistons, Cunningham's been doing his best and deserved our patience after playing just 12 games last season due to injury.
In reality, Luka is an all-world, top 5 passer/playmaker (Cade is not) and the most underrated part about Luka is his strength. Dude is at least 235-240 pounds and it’s obvious how strong he is with how defenders bounce off him. This helps Luka a lot with scoring inside. Cade is leaner so finishing through contact isn’t as easy.
Nov 26, 2022 · Yeah, in hindsight, Wagner and Mobley go ahead of him, but Wagner was not obviously better at time of draft and some people did have Mobley ahead of Cunningham predraft. I think Cade was a reasonable choice, he was a good college player and great high school player, he had obvious flaws, but there wasn't a single runaway top pick that draft.

Cade tends to slow things down offensively and use the extra time to direct the offensive around him and survey the court.
