First appearing in episode 29 (30th May 1979) and remained until the bitter end in episode 692 (11th December 1986). However, Officer Barry was not a regular character until around episode 455. Joy also portrayed Nancy Bliss in Neighbours, in 2003.
Jun 13, 2011 · To put it mildly Val Lehman and Elspeth Ballantyne hated each other. Val has made no secret of this.:) According to rumours Val was getting a concession because she lived so many miles away from where they filmed PCBH. Not just Val, but anybody that lived 20 miles (example) away from the studio received this travelling expense.
May 31, 2017 · Meg Morris was played by Elspeth Ballantyne. Yes I know. I'm saying that the characters of Meg Morris and Helen Gordon fulfilled similar roles in their respective shows of the moralistic suffering saintly type -a moral force in the community so to speak.

It was down to (unrelated show) Neighbours to pay some kind of tribute.

Aug 4, 2017 · Bellbird in Australia is like EastEnders in the UK, a top soap that faced a rival. Tom Oliver, Ian Smith and Anne Charleston are already typecast as Lou Carpenter, Harold Bishop and Madge Bishop in Neighbours though, so couldn't return to Bellbird, and the same goes for Elspeth Ballantyne, Patsy King and Sheila Florance in Prisoner, again typecasting.

Jul 28, 2024 · Aww that is sad news she was a great actress and seemed like a lovely person. When I think of Lynne the first scene that comes to mind is her and Rebecca having a that massive catfight in the street.
Oct 22, 2017 · Meg Morris (Elspeth Ballantyne) at 78. Mary Ward who played Mum Brookes is still going strong at 102. She would've been great, I still think that the Linda Miles (officer) character is a reimagining of Colleen, she could've played her mother.
Mar 15, 2014 · Apparently on 'Prisoner' (Cell Block H), Elspeth Ballantyne (Meg) was the cast snitch who ran telling the producers whenever anyone on the cast said or did something they shouldn't have. Val Lehman (Bea), at least, observed this and (like Bea) even apparently planted a false story to see if it got back to the producers - uncovering the snitch.
