  1. Encino Man (1992) is my guilty pleasure. This film is absolutely bonkers. I’m not going to spoil the plot, but it’s one you definitely can’t think too hard about. Sean Astin and Pauly Shore both have great chemistry, and the film’s many sequences are so much fun to watch. It’s such a feel-good, cliche film, but I absolutely adore it.

  2. Encino man seemed like a poor leader and didn't seem to comprehend the act of passing on time sensitive information. How accurate was that portrayal in the show? Going off of both the book, Generation Kill, as well as the book written by Nate Fick, One Bullet Away, most everything was depicted pretty well. Its a reference to how Senior Officers ...

  4. Encino Man encapsulates everything great about a early 90s teen comedy. You have Pauly Short with the iconic 90s fashion, speaking his own language as he does in his movies. Brendan Fraser having the time of his life in an early role. Sean Astin constantly whining throughout the movie, trying to become popular and noticed by his high school crush.

  5. Nov 17, 2016 · Brendan Fraser’s cameos as Encino Man’s Link in Son in Law and In the Army Now suggest the three films exist in the same world. So, that means Pauly Shore’s Stoney character is a clone, has twin brothers, suffered amnesia or entered the witness protection program.

He’s probably retired from the Corps, but I am uncertain. Sgt “Pappy” Patrick is retired from the USMC, has his own company and lives in North Carolina with his family.

  7. May 22, 2022 · Brendan Fraser in Encino Man and the cast of Newsies (both came out in 1992) gently guided me through puberty as a boy crazy and hideous young teen. Damn, I’m old…. Brain freeze. Finally a movie anniversary post without 3 weeks of leads ups of “ Just saw X for the first time in a decade/ ever.”.

  8. Sep 5, 2022 · I think the corporate overlords are afraid Encino is too confusing for people outside the US, as if they couldn’t Google it. Kinda like how British is the de facto accent in all period or fantasy movies because they don’t think we can understand other accents.

  9. Feb 23, 2021 · Knowing that Encino means oak in Spanish means nothing in the context of the movie. Hence "California Man" would help a Spaniard understand that the movie is about a man in California more than "Oak Man" would make them understand that it is about a man in a specific city near LA in California.

  10. Exactly! And that’s the beauty of Generation Kill. It perfectly shows are terrible and great the military structure and war is. The military structure (at the time) allows good men like Fick, and others, to make decisions that benefit his men and keeps them safe. However, that same structure allows men like “Capt America” and “Encino ...
