Encino Man (1992) is my guilty pleasure. This film is absolutely bonkers. I’m not going to spoil the plot, but it’s one you definitely can’t think too hard about. Sean Astin and Pauly Shore both have great chemistry, and the film’s many sequences are so much fun to watch. It’s such a feel-good, cliche film, but I absolutely adore it.

Encino Man encapsulates everything great about a early 90s teen comedy. You have Pauly Short with the iconic 90s fashion, speaking his own language as he does in his movies. Sep 5, 2022 · I think the corporate overlords are afraid Encino is too confusing for people outside the US, as if they couldn’t Google it. Kinda like how British is the de facto accent in all period or fantasy movies because they don’t think we can understand other accents.

Hence "California Man" would help a Spaniard understand that the movie is about a man in California more than "Oak Man" would make them understand that it is about a man in a specific city near LA in California.
