  1. 3. earthdogmonster. • 7 mo. ago. One of the FuncoLands near me way back in the day had the Gamestop sign installed right over the existing Funcoland sign after the merger. Anyhow, the far right end of the Gamestop sign had fallen off at some point, so you could see the old “and” from the Funcoland sign.

  2. Amusingly, the N64 there costs less than the price difference between the USA and UK at the time of release. In America, the price of the N64 went to $149 in March 1997. In the same month, the N64 launched in the UK at £250 - the equivalent of $309. The price went down by £100 after only two months. Reply reply.

  4. Jun 5, 2023 · Before Gamestop, there was Funcoland (lil bit of history) (reposting because original was taken down for website screenshots) Back in 2000, Barnes & Noble bought Funcoland and merged it with Babbage's to form GameStop. Not sure if anyone cares, but someone archived the old Funcoland website.

  5. If you hit gamestop's "find a store" feature on their site and type in "mesquite, tx" this location is #3 at 3600 Gus Thomasson Rd Ste 126 Mesquite, TX 75150. Sadly it's owned by Gamestop now, but I still visit this location from time to time. Bought many good games from this store, brings back many good old memories.

Most Gamestops kept the Funcoland 8 and 16 bit inventory until it sold through, eventually discontinuing the older systems and folding the more recent ones into Gamestop's usual used business.

  7. May 13, 2022 · FuncoLand was GameStop before GameStop existed. I miss the flyers with the trade in prices. Electronic Boutique is the equivalent up here. I don't remember Funco but all the Gamestops in my area were EB Games prior to 2007/08-ish. And those of you in the Philadelphia area might remember Game Gallery was the same before Funcoland came to the area.

  9. Apr 27, 2016 · actually when you put it that way, yeah i guess so. i think it's more like i'd like to collect them but i think it's gotten silly so i'll just sit it out and complain in the meantime until the prices go back down.

  10. Holy shit Funcoland! Damn OP, you're bringing me back. I remember it being like '95 or '96 and I (almost begrudgingly) hauled in all my Sega Saturn shit because my parents didn't buy me video game stuff, my friends didn't have a Saturn and I was all played out on the System anyway..the console, hell of controllers, hell of games, etc and was able to trade it all in for like a $220 credit.
