Marek Koterski urodził się 3 czerwca 1942 roku w Krakowie. Jest reżyserem filmowym i teatralnym, dramaturgiem i scenarzystą. Ukończył polonistykę na Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim. Studiował również historię sztuki i malarstwo. W 1971 roku został absolwentem Łódzkiej Szkoły Filmowej.
