I have worked over at the med school, and I'm currently taking some classes there. I think that MCW's basic science facilities are much nicer than UW's. Dec 1, 2011 · May 30, 2012. #3. Yes, you're misinformed. MCW is private and extremely OOS friendly. It's nicknamed UC-Wisconsin for a reason. They give a small tuition discount to Wisconsin residents, but it doesn't boost their admission chances. UW is the prototypical state school which gives significant preference to IS.
