He's a fairly popular but socialy inept weirdo with an unusual skill set, taking on odd jobs to provide for his family. And, of course, swords.
Iori can beat servants on his own as a living person same as Musashi. And there are TONS of mages and supernatural beings in Fate that can easily beat most non-OP servants. (Aoko, Touko, a good number of the lords of the clock tower, random strong mages like Beryl, dead apostles, true ancestors, and other kinds of ghost liners)
