Northfield Mount Hermon was founded in 1879 by evangelist D.L. Moody as two institutions. NMH is currently a co-ed boarding school on the Mount Hermon campus.

Northfield Mount Hermon is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory school in western Massachusetts, with approximately 635 boarding and day students in grades 9 through 12, plus a postgraduate year. NMH employs approximately 130 people in teaching and administrative faculty positions and more than 160 in staff positions.
