Leafing thru the hits, many examples don't fit this context (e.g., "six cubits wide on the one side," or, "the join fields on the one side of a one-to-many relationship," or, "every advantage gained on the one side would be a disadvantage on the other.").
Jun 9, 2020 · The meaning of both "only one" and "one and only one" is the same. However, "one and only one" adds emphasis to the fact that there is only one, and draws attention to it. For example, the student who is the only one who failed, might feel more ashamed if the teacher uses "one and only one", as the teacher might be perceived as purposely drawing attention to that fact, for whatever reason.

However if you postulate many directions e.g. north, south, east, west, north-west, south-east etc then it woul be "one or another (an other)" –

The client should create a 1-way trust. 2) When using it as a pronoun or as an unspecified measure, "one" should be used. One of the things to consider. The assessment met one common standard.

Aug 1, 2011 · Zero is a little bit longer to pronounce, hence the "oh". As an American speaker, I've always heard it pronounced one 'oh' one, though that doesn't make it anymore correct than one zero one or one-hundred and one even. It also tends to be a little more trendy and/or less formal to use 'oh' (Hawaii Five-Oh for example).
