Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao (28 June 1921 – 23 December 2004), popularly known as P. V. Narasimha Rao, was an Indian lawyer, statesman and politician from the Indian National Congress Party who was Prime Minister of India from 1991 to 1996.
P.V. Narasimha Rao was a leader of the Congress (I) Party faction of the Indian National Congress and was the prime minister of India from 1991 to 1996. Widely recognized for his efforts to liberalize the Indian economy in the early 1990’s, Rao was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, posthumously in 2024.
