Mar 4, 2022 · This means that all Shaw Direct customers will need new hardware that supports HEVC compression. Only the 800 series receives are capable of decoding HEVC signals. Those with 600 series receivers will need to change out their equipment. It's very likely that Shaw Broadcast will be under Rogers Communications by then along with Shaw Direct.
Dec 8, 2006 · Very satisfied with Shaw Direct I've been a Shaw Direct customer since 2003, migrating from a basic receiver to the 530. Their picture quality on HD channels is outstanding, the SD channels are OK. I have had no problems with the 530 (knock on wood) with the exception of having to do a hard shut down/reboot on occasion.

Sep 16, 2024 · Shaw Direct is riding into the sunset as geosynchronous TV loses customers and its satellites decline in their ability to provide service. G2 will fail, the only question is when. Rogers is probably planning to migrate Shaw Direct customers to Ignite as high speed internet expands and it is able to provide its own LOS internet service.
Aug 26, 2023 · The same channels have the message that the receiver has lost it's signal. They are sending a tech out so we'll see what he has to say. And it does appear that all of the channels are on the same satellite. Since nothing has changed at my end I'm surprised that other Shaw Direct customers aren't experiencing the same issue.
Jun 3, 2024 · I'm just wondering why Shaw installers did not want to do repairs. Rogers willingness to do so may depend on location. It may not want to support Shaw Direct at addresses where Ignite is available and consider it a legacy service there. Where the only option is satellite, it makes sense that Rogers would do new installs.
