The Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa is a world of extremes. It is a vast sandy savannah that is a devoid of any permanent surface water. The name is based on a local term for "The Great Thirst." And yet this barren expanse is punctuated by explosions of life that flow from flooding rains.
Unlike most of the world's major rivers which empty into the sea, the Okavango River in Africa empties into a desert. This film captures the unique interaction between the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango River delta, examining its impact on the region's richly diverse wildlife.
