Secret_Arrival_5761. Urban Legend (1998) is pure 90s slasher goodness. Discussion. Urban Legend came out when I was 11 years old and I managed to sneak into the theater to see it. It immediately became one of my favorite movies and I remember getting my mom to rent the vhs over and over until I finally convinced her to buy it for me.
So I have just finished watching Urban Legend, which came in the wake of the enormous revival brought about by Scream (1996) and later I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). The opening which features Brad Dourif is actually top quality in challenging stereotypes and subverting expectations.

I know that Urban Legend came out after Scream - probably even as a result of Scream - but it totally feels like it's THE movie that Scream is constantly referencing. If all the traits of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s slashers that Scream is lovingly mocking were condensed into one movie, it would be Urban Legend.

Jan 28, 2023 · I do like the killer in Urban Legend is absolutely awesome and perfect and Brenda's Actor name "Rebecca" is a awesome ...But the only thing that makes me upset is that I don't know what is the name of the killer i mean sure it's name is Brenda Bates but Brenda doesn't have a her killer name because let's face it in Scream Billy and Stu were called The "Ghostface Killers" and in the other movie ...
May 10, 2023 · It was all an urban legend created by Brenda and the students in the library at the end of the film. The reason Brenda was the villain and therefore put at the center was because she is the aficionado on the campus urban legends (notice that she corrects the students telling the story to tell them "what really happened").
