Experiment: Try to use a hammer drill to ream out a larger hole around the bolt in the wall, full depth of the bolt, then a sledge hammer to loosen the bolt in the now-weakened hole in the wall. If that's not too difficult it leaves the bolts in the shelves, you don't have to cut the shelves or the bolts. – jay613.
Jun 22, 2022 · It looks like there are 6 flats on the brass nut that you could put a Cresent wrench on to unscrew the nut. That might release the rest of the cartridge. I'd wait for a more expert opinion, though. @FreeMan that was my guess as well. I'll wait as suggested though - thanks :)

May 31, 2015 · Leave the sleeve on. There's an arrow on it pointing up indicating that you need to push up on the fitting first. This will loosen the locking clip inside. You then squeeze on the sleeve while still pushing up for the clip to release which will let you remove the whole assembly. I just learned this replacing the faucet in my restroom. 😁
Apr 12, 2019 · The entire lower plastic portion is the locknut.. Have a helper hold the strainer in place from above using a strainer wrench (it's a thing, sometimes called a spud wrench), or by jamming the handles of channellock pliers into it, while you get under there and unscrew the whole plastic body from the strainer (turn CCW if looking up at it from below).
Soaking the area with penetrating oil, may free up the screw enough for you to remove it. Apply a liberal amount of penetrating oil to the area. Allow the oil to soak in for 5-10 minutes. Try to remove the screw (by conventional means, and using the technique above).
First make sure that it is not in a locked position (ie remove or lift the bolt attached to the side if any). Then simply screw a screw into the X-area of the fastener from outside, just 1-2 mm so that the screw kind of locks on to the fastener.
