It is a security issue. If you look at the console in the browser it throws a CORS violation which happens when a website tries to communicate with a different domain name it isn't allowed to. This is meant to keep websites from getting hacked and transmitting your data to rogue sites.

That didn't work for me (unfortunately), but going through the Playstation Store on the PS4 to make the purchase did! Just wanted to mention for others to also try this out. TL;DR: The mobile/desktop app may fail, but trying to purchase via the PS4 may not.
You know it's funny is today PlayStation support was supposed to be open but funny thing is they're closed on Mondays and on top of it you can't get a refund through the support page honestly I'm not surprised that microsoft/xbox is actually doing better than PlayStation is.
