Oshakati East is an electoral constituency in the Oshana Region of Namibia. It comprises the eastern parts of the town of Oshakati. The constituency had 22,634 inhabitants in 2004 [1] and 19,606 registered voters in 2020. [2] Oshakati East was created in 1998.
Oshakati-east shares boarders with ongwediva on the northern side, ondangwa- rural on the eastern side, ompundja on the western side and oshakati-west on the western side. According to 2011 Namibian population and housing census results, oshakati-east constituency has a population of 27,227.
The town area covers two electoral constituencies, Oshakati East and Oshakati West. Oshana Region, to which Oshakati belongs, is a stronghold of Namibia's ruling SWAPO party. In the 2015 local authority election SWAPO won by a landslide (4,569 votes) and gained six council seats.
