The Heritage Gallery and Heritage Trail don’t require a tonne of energy to explore as they cover a small compound.

Just slightly off the entrance to Sentosa island stands the former St James Power Station — a monumental witness to Singapore’s transformation from a modest trading port to today’s world-class city. Built in 1927, this was at first a coal-fired power plant, supplying electricity to nearby shipyards, factories and residences.
Gazetted as a National Monument in 2009, St James Power Station was a coal-fired power station built by the British between 1924 and 1927. The power station was decommissioned in 1976 as it was unable to meet Singapore’s rising demand for electrical power.
