EMA regulates Singapore’s electricity, gas and district cooling industries through legislation, policies and frameworks and codes of practice under the Energy Market Authority of Singapore Act 2001.
EMA issues a variety of licences to companies and workers in the electricity and gas industries, companies providing district cooling services to gazetted service areas, and to owners of electrical installations.

The application fee for an electrical technician's licence is $50/- and is non-refundable. Upon approval of your licence application, login to EMA e-Services Website with your Singpass to pay the $60/- licence fee.
An EMA licence is required to use or operate an electrical installation of approved load exceeding 45 kVA for non-domestic purposes. Electrical installations in premises used for "hazardous trades", irrespective of their approved loads, are also required to be licensed.
